Integrate directly from Lightstep Observability

Create a webhook integration with LIR directly from Lightstep Observability.

Before you begin

Role required: Responder, Manager, or Administrator


  1. Log in to Lightstep Observability.
  2. Select your project.
  3. From the navigation pane, click Alerts.
  4. Click the Notification destinations tab.

  5. Click Create a destination and select Lightstep Incident Response.

  6. You're directed to the Lightstep Incident Response login page.
    If you have an account with LIR, sign in to your account. Otherwise, create an account with LIR.
  7. LIR sets up the integration with Lightstep Observability, creating a default service and a default on-call team for the integration.
    You can change the service or on-call team.

    Select service and on-call team.

  8. Click Continue.
  9. Once the configuration is complete, you're taken back to Lightstep Observability.
    A notification destination is created for Lightstep Incident Response.

  10. Optional: To test the connection with LIR click Test.
    An alert is created in Incident Response.
  11. In Lightstep Incident Response, you can see:
    • The Lightstep Observability integration under installed integrations.
    • The service created for Lightstep Observability under Services.

      For more information about defining the service in the payload, see step 6.

    • The team created for Lightstep Observability under On-call teams.

What to do next

In Lightstep Observability, add the webhook destination to the alerts that you want LIR to handle.

If you want to create a more customized alert payload, you can create a custom webhook integration with Lightstep Observability by creating a webhook endpoint for Lightstep Observability in LIR and configuring it in Lightstep Observability.
