Create a notification channel

Set up notification channels and attach the channels to policies. Your selected channels provide fast and consistent ways for the right personnel to be notified about incidents.

Before you begin

Role required: Responder, Manager, or Administrator

  1. Log in to the New Relic console.
  2. Click the Alerts & AI tab.
    The Alerts & AI tab.
  3. On the navigation pane, click Notification Channels.
    The notification channels option.
  4. Click New notification channel.

    The Create a new notification channel form.

  5. On the Create a new notification channel form, perform the following actions:
    Field Action
    Select a channel type Select Webhook.The webhook option.
    Channel name Enter a name for the channel.
    Base Url Enter the webhook URL copied from Incident Response.
    Add basic auth Enter your basic authentication credentials.
    Add custom payload Select Payload Type as JSON and paste the payload copied from Incident Response. Payload for New Relic.
  6. Click Create channel.
  7. To verify the webhook URL connection, click Send a test notification.
    The test notification successful message.
    Note: response: 200 is the status code which indicates that New Relic has correctly sent the test notification to Lightstep Incident Response. If you send an empty payload in the Custom Payload section, the result might be BadRequest-400 as shown in the following image:

  8. Click Got it.
  9. Click Save changes.
