Escalate incidents to Azure DevOps

Escalate incidents from Incident Response to Azure DevOps.

Before you begin

Role required: Responder, Manager, or Administrator

You must enable Escalate incidents to Azure DevOps option while setting up the Azure DevOps integration. See Configure escalation of incidents to Azure DevOps.


  1. Log in to Lightstep Incident Response.
  2. Navigate to Incidents and select the incident that you want to escalate to Azure DevOps.
  3. Click Escalate to and select Azure.

  4. In the Escalate incident to Azure DevOps dialog box:
    1. From the Azure DevOps Project list, select the project in Azure under which you want to create the issue.
    2. From the Work Item Type list, select the work item for the incident to be escalated as.
    3. Click Escalate to Azure DevOps.
      Note: An incident can be escalated to Azure only once.
    Select Azure project to escalate to.


A work item of the type you selected gets created in Azure DevOps. You can see the Azure work item number in the incident. The following fields from the incident are synchronized with Azure DevOps:
  • Short description
  • Description
  • Priority
  • State
  • Comments
  • Work notes

Note: If you delete an escalated work item in Azure DevOps, a comment is added to the incident in Incident Response to inform about the deletion.
