We’ve been working hard on some really great, full-stack features, like the OpenTelemetryOpenTelemetry launch, making it easy to compare historical data, and huge improvements to root cause analysis. We’re not slowing down for the holidays, so be on the lookout for these coming your way soon!
But of course, we did manage to launch a few features and improvements this month.
Here’s what’s new in November.
Trace Analysis Functionality in Streams
Ever wish the great grouping and filtering functionality that we have in the Trace AnalysisTrace Analysis table was available in the Streams view? Well, your wish has come true!
The Historical Spans table on a Stream now lets you group by an attribute (service, operation, or tag) and filter to see only specific spans. You can also bring in all spans from a trace (and not just the spans from the Stream's query) and add columns to the table.
Usability is important to us and providing a consistent experience across Lightstep is just one way we're improving.

Come and Play in Our New Sandbox!
We've launched a new demo where, without logging in, you can play with Lightstepplay with Lightstep! It offers two scenarios to help you get started. You can resolve a performance regression and you can debug an error.
The sandbox keeps track of your progress, offers helpful tidbits and hints, and even nudges you in the right direction of you go off course. C’mon in and play!
Improved Monitoring View
Used to be that you had to go to two separate views to create alerts for your Streams - one to create destinations (where alerts are sent) and another to create the rules that trigger alerts. No more. Now everything, including the ability to see what conditions are in violation, can be done from one place.
You can filter on service, operation, and type, and easily navigate to destinations and see where your alerts are going.
That’s it for this month. Look for more updates in December!
